The Desire to Learn

By: David Korn

The desire to learn is instilled in practically all of us. It is important to begin this desire at a very young age. Therefore, fostering learning will continue for the rest of our lives. Learning occurs on a daily basis, even long after we finish our schooling. There is always something new to learn and the benefits are enormous.

In order to increase the desire for learning, there must be some sort of reward. Since humans are built on a reward system, finding ways to motivate yourself is important. Knowing the fact that learning new things is rewarding enough should motivate you to learn more often. Learning new things will give you more to talk about and can make your life easier.

When faced with dilemmas, doing the necessary research to solve the problem can come in handy. This is especially true when facing emotional difficulties. Many times it is a lack of knowledge that causes internal disturbances. Once you acquire the necessary knowledge to solve your problem, things can get better.

Teaching young people to learn is important. Many times they show adversity in school. Since school can infringe upon their free will, they will show resistance to learning. Explaining the benefits of learning to them can help motivate them to do better. In addition, since most humans care about money, having more knowledge means a higher potential to earn more money.
