Showing Interest By: David Korn
A good way to show interest is to ask a lot of questions. The idea is to ask questions that relate to them in some way. Also, it wouldn’t be a good idea to ask questions that are too personal or awkward too quickly. Timing is important when it comes to asking questions as well. By asking questions, you will show interest in their lives and this will make them feel wanted. Listening to the person is a great way to show interest. Giving feedback when they ask you questions is also important for showing interest. Being a good listener is very important to most individuals. Rarely does some one want to be ignored or not cared for. Humans have deep desires or yearnings for fitting in. Therefore, giving into these desires when appropriate will get you noticed more. Spending a lot of time with the person is one of the best ways to show interest. In general, the more time you spend with someone, the more attached they may feel. This is usually the case in the beginning whereas people may need breaks much further down the road. When you spend time with another, you are taking interest in their activities and lifestyle. This is important to them since they can include you into their lives. Showing interest can go a long way. It can make you more likeable, seem as friendly, and be seen as helpful. Many times showing interest to someone can brighten their day. Sometimes they just want someone to listen to them and not necessarily solve their problems. Even if you show interest and it isn’t returned, at least you will be seen as a good person. In my opinion, that is more important than winning over the popularity of others. |
