Setting an Example By: David Korn
You can set an example to others by performing good behaviors. Upholding to ethics and morality is important when leading by example. Other qualities such as honesty, loyalty, empathy, and more are also important for leadership. The idea is to perform good behaviors on a consistent basis. While no one is perfect and we all make mistakes, reverting back to good behavior is the key to setting an example. Avoiding bad behaviors is another way to lead by example. Immorality and misdeeds are some of the bad behaviors that are to be avoided. If others see you perform in a bad light, they may hold a less favorable view of you. In addition, other bad behaviors include dishonesty, stealing, abuse, and so on. The idea is for the good to outweigh the bad. Sometimes we slip and perform bad behaviors. If we take responsibility for them, express regret and sorrow, then we can aim for redeeming ourselves in the eyes of others. Taking action is a good way to lead by example. Setting an example through your actions will show others that you are taking charge. Sometimes people hesitate and procrastinate when it comes to doing tasks. If you can set an example to them by completing your tasks in an expedited manner, they will see this in you. Guiding people along the way is also helpful in setting an example. When people see others taking action, this may incline them to also take action in their lives. Leading by example is one of the best ways to prove that you are a leader. Sometimes others need a little push. Therefore, showing them that you uphold to good deeds and take action when necessary will help them to see that you are able to set an example to others. This can be applied to your personal life, career, and so on. As a result, setting examples will help you in various areas of your life. |
