Organizing Your Academic Life By: David Korn
Homework: You can place your homework into a binder with colored subject dividers. Having a folder for each subject can also help. You can place important documents such as exams, term papers, and other things in the folder. Some schools require individual notebooks for each class. Having a folder in these notebooks will come in handy as well. Make sure your homework is organized in chronological order. Class Notes: Much like homework, place your class notes in subject dividers. Give them the proper date, heading, and other important information. Make sure the notes are in chronological order as well. Term Papers: Having an outline for a term paper is almost a necessity. You can use roman numerals, bullet points, or regular numbers to complete an outline. Start with an introduction ending with a thesis statement, the body paragraphs with the important information, and a conclusion paragraph summing everything up. Exam Study: You may either choose to study on your own or with others. If you like to study alone, organize your time into blocks so that you can take breaks. It is best to spread your time throughout the weeks. If you wait for the last minute, study in chronological order as opposed to all over the place. If you organize a study group, make sure you meet at a place where there is quite. This can include a library, park, and more. The organized student is usually a more productive one. As a result of their efforts, they can spend time on other things. It may take time to learn to organize your school work. By doing so, you may even see an increase in your grades. Overall, organization will prove valuable in your educational life. |
