Making a First Impression By: David Korn
One of the biggest components of making a good first impression is attitude. Portraying yourself as confident, joyful, and ambitious will help increase your impressionability. Staying your ground and not appearing nervous are also very important. Making sure you smile often and showing that you care is good for making impressions. Making sure you are on time for any event is extremely important. Many people have pet peeves about people who are late to events. This can make or break a first impression of someone. In addition, looking good tends to be favored. Having a neat appearance and dressing right for the occasion is vital to your impression success. Many folks like to give the advice “Just be yourself.” While I agree somewhat with that statement, I would say a balance is warranted for a specific situation. People tend to act slightly different to each individual and each individual situation. Therefore, showing your true nature, in a good light, will help you make a good impression. |
