How to Write a Resume

Writing a resume is an essential business tool to learn. Learning how to write a resume can take some time and practice. It is important to make your resume look the best it can. That way you can land the job or career that you are looking for. There are a few techniques to keep in mind when writing a resume.

When writing a resume, be very honest about what you say. Make sure it is readable and clearly written. Also, make sure there are no typographical errors or grammar errors. There are a few different types of resumes. Therefore, it is important to tailor it to the appropriate job. Doing some research on what resume type is needed will be beneficial. The most commonly used resume format is the chronological resume.

Here is a sample resume that follows the chronological format:

Joe Smith
123 Apple Street
New York, NY 55555
(555) 555-5555
joe@asdfghjkl.com

Account Manager, Sample Agency
January 2005 – June 2007

-Managed 150 accounts
-Kept track of 5 databases
-Supervised a staff of 10 junior accountants

-Held responsibility for store upkeep

Computer Skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Internet

This sample resume is a basic guide for most working professionals. There are a few other notable categories to include, such as accolades, certifications, and references. Keeping a resume one to two pages in length is sufficient. Using plain white paper usually will do and sometimes people prefer to use a fancier beige color. Update your resume as the years transpire and store it in a safe place.
