How to Stay Organized

By: David Korn

One of the biggest keys to living a successful life is organization. Being unorganized can cost us time, energy, and money. It can also cause a lot of unwanted stress. Many people make resolutions to get better organized but have difficulty following through. Even if they start to organize, keeping it that way can pose a major challenge. In this guide, I will discuss 3 major components of our life to keep organized. They include home life, work life, and academic life.

I am a firm believe in less is more. Having only what is required for the home or office can make life much easier. Make sure you stay on top of clutter on the floors or furniture by placing them away. Much like time management success, having a planner and to do lists can prove invaluable. And most importantly, remind yourself to stay on top of organizing. When you present an organized area, people will be impressed with you.

Establishing a routine can be an easy way to stay organized. Following the same sleep, eating, and work regimen can provide content. Many people may argue that this is boring over time. But, it is one of the best ways to organize your life. Studies and research show that the brain likes routine, especially when it comes to sleep.

When it comes to your living or work quarters, make sure there is enough space in between furniture. Always throw out or put away clutter. If necessary, use storage bins and draws to store items neatly. Many people do indeed know how to organize, but they aren’t motivated since it can be a lot of work. The idea would be to take small steps at a time.

For academics, staying organized is very important. Many students utilize a notebook with folders to keep tabs on their school work. Having sections for class notes and homework can be helpful. Establishing a study routine is often the key to higher grades. It makes life a lot easier to stay organized in the most important areas of your life.
