How to Live a Better Life By: David Korn
Our lives seem to be built around others. We grow up with superiors telling us what to do. We then work at a career where our boss tells us what to do. When does it ever stop? A lot of our grief stems from expectations. Society plays too much of an influence on us. How many of us can really break away from its impact? Well, the ones who are successful at deterring society's pressures can lead happier lives. We are born on free will. That stems from the old adage "We are born to be free." Violations of our free will cause friction. Granted, there are some that like being told what to do. But, in general, humans want to be free. The idea is to learn how to free yourself and to free your mind. Some refer to this as letting go. Once we learn the art of freeing ourselves, we are no longer slaves to others. We can finally rest at ease knowing we have the ability to make our own choices. The next major obstacle with free will is our own minds. Our thoughts have an enormous influence on us. Imagine if we can sit back and watch our treacherous thoughts go by without influencing us? We would certainly be able to accomplish much more. There are probably only so few that are fully free of their mind's grasp. They learned to create non-attachment to their thoughts and feelings. Perhaps you can learn to become one of these people one day. Then you can finally live in peace. |
