Having a Positive Attitude By: David Korn
One of the most common ways to develop a positive attitude is to replace negative thoughts with positive ones. Many of our thoughts are negative since our minds have a built-in defense mechanism. Noticing these negative thoughts is the first step towards thinking positively. It may not be easy to catch at first, but you will start to notice them along the way. Thinking more positive will help you to replace those negative thoughts permanently over time. Positive affirmations help you to attain a more positive attitude. Saying positive things to yourself can also help to replace negative thinking patterns. Sometimes we need a little push with positive reinforcement. Seeking out the help of others can also attribute to the creation of positive affirmations. Once you see that others can think positively, you can do so as well. Using empirical or circumstantial evidence to reinforce your positive evidence is a good idea. Knowing from the past or in current situations that things don’t go as bad as you think can help you to think more positively. In addition, seeing that others went through positive experiences is also refreshing. Once you realize similar situations aren’t as bad as they seem to be, you can reassure yourself through positive thinking. Many times life seems to be better once we think in a more positive frame of mind. Negative thinking can ruin our moods and prevent us from doing the things we want. As a result, positive thinking can improve our mood and situation. If at times you have difficulty thinking positively on your own, seek out other positive individuals to uplift your mood. There are many positive things around us and sometimes we don’t realize it. |
