Handling Responsibilities By: David Korn
One of the first methods to taking on a responsibility is to see if you can handle it. When you analyze the given responsibility, reminisce on past experiences for similar responsibilities. If you found a responsibility you have handled that is similar to the new one, then you can feel confident in taking on that responsibility. In addition, if you think the newly acquired responsibility is somewhat similar or just a little more difficult than the past one, you can still give it a try. When a new responsibility comes about, sometimes it is best to accept it. Even if you find the newly acquired responsibility too difficult, you can ask for help along the way or abandon it if need be. Taking on a challenging responsibility can make you look good. This also shows that you are confident at being able to complete a task. When you complete a difficult task, you feel a greater sense of achievement for going through with it. If you are good at handling responsibilities on a regular basis, you will be able to take on even more responsibility. Having good time management skills, discipline, and experience will help you to pile on extra responsibilities. You can always draw upon past experiences to see how you handled a combination of responsibilities before. Even though taking on more responsibility can be a good thing, it is best to monitor your threshold levels. It wouldn’t be a good idea to have too many responsibilities that you are unable to handle since this can be detrimental to your health. Taking on many different responsibilities can help make you a role model to others. It is important to be a responsible individual since others may rely on you in the future. Irresponsibility can cause a lot of problems. This can include work dilemmas, relationship problems, communication breakdown, and much more. Therefore, showing that you are a responsible person will look favorably to others. |
