Going with the Flow By: David Korn
A big part of going with the flow is acceptance. Learning to accept that many things are beyond our control can help us to cope with daily life. You do, however, can control certain things such as scheduling meetings, making advanced plans, arriving early to events, and so on. But, for the most part, a lot of situations are the way they are. We can try to make positive changes but sometimes taking it easy is a better alternative. As mentioned before, change is a big component in our lives. Many things do change along the course of time and sometimes it is best to go with the flow. Letting things happen without undue influence can make life easier. This is not to say that if a dangerous event occurs and not doing something about it. But, applying this to everyday common situations, going with the flow and letting the changes occur can make things easier. Understanding that imperfection is a big part of life will make it easier to go with the flow. There are many perfectionists who try to make everything right. However, this can cause a lot of stress and frustration. Therefore, relaxing and going with the flow will help you to realize that we can’t always be perfect. Doing your best and achieving small steps can be seen as a big accomplishment. Many times just trying at something is enough to warrant an achievement. Going with the flow doesn’t mean being lazy and doing nothing at all. It means letting things take their course while you become an active participant with little resistance. That way, you can experience less stress and more peace of mind. Keep in mind that if situations do need improvement, then taking action would be important. Some people are high achievers and like to keep constantly busy. Meanwhile, there are others who take a more relaxed approach to life. Your philosophy will determine whether going with the flow is right for you. But, it does provide benefits even to incorporate it just a little bit. |
