Career Exploration By: David Korn
When beginning career exploration, knowing yourself is one of the first steps. It is best to find out your interests, what you like, and something that can foster your growth. Many choose a career that will make the most money. It is best to work at something you really enjoy. Money is a big motivator, but it makes it difficult if that is the only thing you wish to seek. Exploring your career options is the next path after assessing yourself. Understanding what fields are available to you and knowing what it will take to achieve them are important. Many require schooling, certification, licensing, and so on. Making future sacrifices in your life may be necessary to achieve the career you want. After some career exploration, gaining skills becomes crucial. Many employers want someone who is qualified and has a good amount of experience. There are several ways to attain experience prior to attaining a career. These include completing school, volunteering, internships, and so on. After you build yourself a resume, you will have more options available to you. After you’ve established yourself as an experienced individual, job searching begins. Doing a lot of research for the field you wish to pursue can be helpful. Many companies offer websites and visitation to give you an idea about the career you are exploring. Once you feel confident that you can handle the job, making an interview is the next step. Once you work in an established career, you will grow and change. Many people find that the career they initially chose was the wrong choice and wind up switching. Much like anything else in life, career exploration is a learning process. It is important to enjoy what you do and feel like you made a difference. Therefore, people will admire you and follow in your footsteps. |
