Bad Time Habits

By: David Korn

Having bad time habits can cause many problems. Poor time management stems from a lack of abilities in managing time. There are some common time pitfalls that most people fall victim to. Working on these bad time habits can improve the quality of life. We mostly learn to manage time from a very young age. But, as life gets busier, we can be more susceptible to faulty time management.

One of the worst bad time habits is being late. Being late can cause many problems in life. These include work, personal, and others. Showing up late to events can make one look bad. It can also upset people since they relied upon the person being on time. I would say to do your best to always be early or on time to events. It is important to people that we show up on time.

Another bad time habit is letting time slip by or procrastination. We all fall victim to this time pitfall once in a while. However, many do those things on a regular basis. It is important to manage your time in a way that you are productive. Letting the time slip by is generally seen as unfavorable. It is ok to rest and relax when need be. But, procrastinating too much can cause all sorts of problems in life.

In regards to health, not having a regular sleep schedule or not getting enough sleep is another bad time habit. Many people tend to not focus as much on sleep since we only have so many hours in the day. However, for health and productivity, getting enough sleep on a regular basis is very important. Once in a while we can get away with a lack of sleep. But, doing this on an ongoing basis can cause time and health problems.

Learning proper time management is important in avoiding bad time habits. There are many other habits that can interfere with our time. But, working on each slowly over time can improve overall time management. Since we are imperfect beings, bad time habits will occur at least once in a while. Getting back on track is the key to effective time management. The better you use your time, the more you can get done.
